2nd 2:00pm - San Diego Symphony "Jacobs Masterworks Concert". For the San Diego Symphony's opening concert, they have invited today's most acclaimed French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet for a rare duo of Maurice Ravel piano masterworks. Music Director Jahja Ling opens and closes the concert with vivid impressions of the Eternal City from two different masters of orchestral color, Hector Berlioz and Ottorino Respighi. 11th 6:00pm - Mandolin Instructor Workshop (part 1) - Chris Acquavella will be leading the Mandolin Instructors Workshop as part of the 2011 CMSA Convention in Baltimore, MD. The workshop is designed to help mandolinists & instructors come up with new & creative ways to teach the mandolin. 22nd 8:00pm - Duo LaRe @ The Turquoise Cafe Bar Europa, PB. An evening of Eastern European folk music, jazz, klezmer and Brazilian choro performed on mandolin, guitar, clarinet, bass & drums. 1st 7:00pm - Solo concert at Cardiff by the Sea Public Library. Chris Acquavella will be presenting an hour long solo mandolin concert titled, "La Storia del Mandolino". Music will range from baroque to contemporary periods, performed on baroque and modern instruments, using period techniques. Music by O'Carolan, Sauli, Denis, Calace, Persichini, Munoz, Kioulaphides, Ochi. This will be a 1 hour concert with a "meet the artist" reception after.
